Accessibility

We aim for WCAG 2.1 AA. Current practice: semantic HTML with real landmarks, keyboard-reachable navigation and search (⌘K), focus-visible states, alt text on informational images, and charts accompanied by the underlying numbers in text. Known gaps we are working through: color-only encoding on some chart ramps, screen reader labeling on the interactive maps, and contrast on the dimmest annotation text.

Remediation plan, in order: (1) text alternatives and reduced color-dependence on the score ramps and sparklines; (2) ARIA labeling and keyboard operation for the interactive maps, with the same data available in text on each page; (3) contrast fixes on the dimmest annotation tier; (4) a formal audit once the interface stabilizes. Issues found by readers ship ahead of this plan.

Status: self-assessed against WCAG 2.1 AA; independent audit not yet commissioned. If something blocks you, tell us via contact — it moves to the front of the queue.
